About Anthony W. Nioso, M.D.

Congratulations to all you extremely diligent patients who've finally found me!

And to those visitors who I have yet to meet, welcome and thank you for visiting my website!

I have been practicing Family Medicine/Primary Care in Jacksonville, since 1996, when I moved here after completing my service as a Medical Corps Officer in the U.S. Navy.

I had been fortunate enough to have been awarded a Health Professions Scholarship for medical school by the Navy, and had attended Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California, before starting my residency training in Family Medicine at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.

Upon completion of my residency, I was stationed with the Amphibious Ready Group Three, U.S. Marines at Camp Pendleton, CA, and had the privilege of accompanying and providing medical support during WestPac deployments all over the world.  When not deployed I was an assistant clinical professor in the Family Medicine program at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton.

And yes, I really do miss my time in service, having had incredible and unique experiences while wearing the uniform.

After completing my obligations to the Navy, and almost on a lark, my wife Marlene, and I came out to Florida at the invitation of a few practices who were seeking a primary care physician, and I ended up starting my career here in Jacksonville with the St. Luke's Hospital Primary Care Network, then owned by Mayo Clinic.

Subsequently, I was in solo practice, before becoming a Baptist Primary Care physician for 18 years at the Reedy Branch clinic on Baymeadows Road.
I left Baptist to join what appeared to be a promising and innovative concept in healthcare, with Village Medical, in 2022.

Unfortunately, after two years, Village Medical closed all its clinics in Jacksonville, and is continuing to close other clinics in Florida.

And so here I am, doing something new and different.

If you haven't already, please read about this new model of primary care, called Direct Primary Care, under the tab above.  It hopefully will give you a brief understanding of what we are doing here at Nioso Direct Primary Care.

I am very proud of, and thankful for,  the relationships that I have established with my patients and I am especially honored that many patients have referred their friends and relatives to my office. I am focused on maintaining your trust and confidence in this new endeavor, and I look forward to resuming so many wonderful relationships I've had, as well as beginning new ones.

I am incredibly fortunate to have joined the legendary "Buster Browning", in sharing an office in downtown Jacksonville.  He was one of the very first physicians I worked closely with, nearly 30 years ago, and we have come full circle to work side by side in our separate practices, Browning Concierge Medicine, and Nioso Direct Primary Care.

I have seen and felt the "burn-out" modern physicians face.  I have heard patients express their growing dissatisfaction with the current state of medical services. Respectful, considerate, attentiveness is becoming so rare in the practice of medicine.  My hope is to provide what has gradually eroded away, amidst today's chaotic and avaricious world of corporate medicine.   The meaning of the word CARE, in healthcare.

Comprehensive, Competent, Comfortable, Convenient, Cost-effective, Compassionate Care.

These are the goals of Nioso Direct Primary Care.
